Racism in America

Okay, let me be serious for now. Life isn't just about rainbows and cotton candies. It can sometimes be all about religion, debates, races, politics and more.

Speaking of politics, I've got the guts to ask my co-worker (a very smart and opinionated man) named Royvan Rivero a random question relating to it. My question was:

"Do you believe that Obama was elected as President of the United States because racism has diminished, or was it because of racism that he was chosen?"

I don't know what made him  answer me, but he did (laughs). Here it is:

One of my coleagues asked me a random question half way through my daily office work - the subject was all about racism in America. She was asking me if racism prevailed in the last election and if that was the reason why Obama won.
In my opinion, racism is not anymore prevalent in the region as it was before – thanks to the late Martin Luther King for his great ideas and his dedication in fighting for equality for all. And, definitely, was not the reason why Obama won. In my own observation, America voted based on platforms.
Based on the series of debates during the campaign period, Obama's potentials prevailed. I can say that his competitiveness, intelligence, his ability to persuade people, and his knowledge in an array of issues that the country is facing put him to the presidency.
Again, racism was not the reason why he won. If it was, then another white president could still have been elected – as there are many whites than blacks in the voting public.

So Cool, So Beast!

Alright, on my previous post I've mentioned that I started to love K-Pop (Korean Pop). So I will introduce you to that world. I've listened to music from Super Junior, Shinee, Girls Generation, 2Ne1, MBLAQ, TVXQ, among many others. But my fave so far has been BEAST which stands for "Boys of the EAst Standing Tall" or  (B2ST), hence, where I got the idea for my blog title. I'm a true-blue B2ST/BEAST fan, and we call ourselves B2UTY (read as BEAUTY: since 2 is pronounced as "ee" in Korea).

BEAST has six dashing members. All boys.

Leader: Yoon Doo Jun 윤두준 - Born on : July 4, 1989

Main Vocals: Yang Yoseob 양요섭 - Born on : January 5, 1990

Vocals: Lee Gi Kwang 이기광) - Born on : March 30, 1990

Vocals: Son Dong Woon 손동운 - Born on : June 6, 1991

Vocals/Best Dancer: Jang Hyun Seung 장현승 - Born on : September 3, 1989

Rapper: Yong Jun Hyung 용준형 - Born on : December 19, 1989

I'll give a little background of each of the boys (things I got to learn from their life before and during the glitz ang glamour, at least).

The group debuted in 2009 under Cube Entertainment. Their journey as a group was showcased in their documentary on MTV called "MTV B2ST". Their first mini album entitled "Beast is the B2ST" was released on October 2009. They made their live debut with their carrier track "Bad Girl" on KBS Music Bank. Other extended plays are Shock of the New Era (2009), Mastermind (2010), Lights go on again (2009), My Story (2010).

They also hosted the second season of their debut show MTV B2ST, now called MTV BEAST Almighty. Which I watched all the episodes online. The concept was to grant each of their fans mail wishes. Pretty cool, really.

If you're a B2UTY, I'd love to hear yourt thoughts. Well, thats everything I can think of now. Talk to you soon!

Start of Something..Else?

Almost a year had passed since I last posted an entry into my old blog. A year. Hmmm... it's quite a long time if you think of it, but when you have too many things to do, never even notice how time flies. In a blink of an eye, everything changes.

As you see, I've finally made up my mind in creating another personal blog for me to blab about anything I want. This is my space, my world (ha!) I wish I don't get those "mental block" phases though (sad face). Why I decided to make a new one? I dunno. I just feel like I wanted to say a lot of things which my mouth can't handle but my fingers are willing. And so another blog.

Lately, I've been liking K-Pop (Well, LIKE is an understatement coz I know for a fact that I LOVE K-Pop) I dunno what's got me hooked to it, I don't understand Korean, but everytime I listen to a Korean Pop song, I start to dance to the tune. And so learning their language followed. I didn't sign up for a Korean Language class though (not yet) but I'm starting to learn some basic words. I guess I wanted to understand the message of every Korean Song I listen to, without having to google translate it, because the online translation engine SUCKS sometimes. Music knows No Boundaries, I realized that now.

Hopefully, in the following days, I can keep this page updated with things I wanted to share to the virtual world. And I hope you get to enjoy them. Annyeong! ^_^
